If you have read a fabric related blog or have visited a fabric site in the past month, I'm sure you've noticed the abundance of fabrics featuring our cute feathered friends.
This trend is beautifully depicted by Erin Michael in Paint By Numbers, Moda's Little Bird-Summer in the City, Hooty Owls by Robert Kaufman, and Alexander Henry's Bird Seed.
I thought I would share some of the vintage bird print fabrics in my collection.

Oooo - I love them all, esp. the barkcloth. I don't have much fabric on hand (I'm a rotten sewer!) but I do have some fun feather and porcelain birds!

What a collection! With each one I was saying oh-that one is my favorite and I kept changing it each time! The first few made me want to go to Hawaii but I think I like the childish ones the best :)

My favorite is the childrens birds prints- so sweet! I love bluebirds in almost any motif.
ReplyDeleteI think the only birdy thing I have is a threesome of bluebirds in a picture sitting on a small branch.
i have some fabric with parrots on it. my favorite was the one on top with the cockatoos!
ReplyDeleteI like that bluebird - must be the bluebird of happiness. I don't think that I have any bird fabric or pictures at home, but I do love robins - the small european ones as opposed to the north american ones which are enormous in comparison!
