Living Small

I recently had the pleasure of being interviewed by Amy from the Green Plan(t) blog, as part of her Tiny Home Obsession series.
Now, I have done my fair share of complaining about the lack of space in this house, but this interview really forced me to admit and recognize that "living small" has many advantages.
I list several in the interview, not the least of which is the economic perks.
With the current mortgage situation and economic strains, I imagine there could be many looking to downsize to a smaller home. The Tiny Lifers that she has featured are showing how that can be done in style. Stop by to see how others are living efficiently in their cozy surroundings.

    I've seen some smaller homes that look a lot better then the larger ones. It's all in the decorating. You have done a wonderful job. I always like looking at your space and never get enough!

    Your place is beautiful. I often think that living in a smaller place can be better in terms of less to keep clean and a desire to surround yourself with only the things you need and love. Down with clutter! ;o)

    Bigger is definitely NOT better. More cleaning, more places to put stuff, more cleaning (oh did I mention that already)? I love small, charming, cozy. Downsizing is in my dreams.

    I am a SMALL HOUSE FAN! Even though my current house is massive, I would trade it in a heartbeat for a little cottage! Which is what I had before this one! Little is best.

    How great to have your house featured, it is lovely. I agree with everything you have said about small scale living. We only live in a two-bedroom and look forward to being mortgage free in a few years. I guess things would have been different if we'd have had children, who knows? I can only see one problem, we don't have enough storage for our growing hoard, and means our loftspace is very full. Really must have a bootsale! x

    Your home is beautiful! I love small homes because of the cozy feel they have. DH and I live in a 1260 sq. ft. house and sometimes it even feels too big....lol.
    As my DH puts it, you only stand in one square foot at a time....great post!

    After living in a huge house for many years we sold and downsized .I just love it .. I now giggle everytime I get my bills and so easy to keep clean :)

    Our house was a shabby 1230 sq. box when we bought it... the scourge of the neighbourhood... but...a corner lot. We have taken it to 1680 sq feet... added a large double garage too... it really is still small enough to be easy to clean and heat..but now I have my own craft room and we also have an exercise room... I used to call it our 20 year renovation project.. but it is now 23 +..... sigh... and now... we are totally redoing the laundry room as we purchased new appliances ( totally odd size) from friend who moved to Portugal... we gave up on trades people several years ago and now do it all ourselves...what a learning experience@!.. but, so far so good... we're still friends! ... my sis and her hubby almost get divorced just trying to hang a new light fixture... lol...
