Cherry Cream Cheese Danish ~ Yum!

Hubby and I were craving something sweet the other morning and I threw together these fast and easy cherry cream cheese danishettes.

Since I was just kind of winging it, I don't have any exact measurements, but its mostly to taste anyway. Makes 9, but we already ate 3 before I took the pictures. :-)
Ingredients:

Ready made Puff Pastry (1 sheet)
Cherry pie filling (or fruit of choice)

Cream cheese mixture:
Half block of cream cheese (4oz)
1 Tbs sugar
vanilla extract (few drops)
lemon juice (just a splash)
Soften the cream cheese in the microwave for 10 seconds and mix in the sugar, vanilla, and lemon. The amounts are really just to taste.


Drizzle icing:
1 cup of powdered sugar
2-3 tsp orange juice or until you get the right consistency.




I cut the sheet of thawed pastry into 9 squares. Then spread the cream cheese mixture on a diagonal.


Added a few cherries...


And pulled the opposite corners up and pinched them together. Brushed with a bit of egg wash and baked at 400-425 until golden brown, about 15 minutes in my oven.
Let them cool slightly before drizzling with the icing.Pour a cup of coffee and enjoy. These would be great for a brunch table, too!

  8. My husband is crazy over cherry pie and I showed these to him so we are going to get some puff pastry and make these! I have never used puff pastry so this will be a fun new adventure. I am so glad I saw this.

  13. This was made for Christmas morning everyone loved them! The only difference with mine was, I used drained cherries in syrup.I can't wait to try them in blueberry. Thank you for the new Christmas tradition.

  15. Making these now! they look wonderful! But my first batch is in the oven and the top pulled apart, and my cherries are going out the sides.. What did i do wrong??

  16. hmmmm...when you bring the two corners up, you probably just need to pinch and fold them over a bit tighter. You can also try a bit of egg wash on those edges to seal them better, then they should stay shut.
    They'll still taste good though. :)
