I knew it (cooler weather) had to happen eventually, so this past weekend I set out to make myself a new bag for the autumn season. I had just received this fabulous green print from fabric.com, and when I saw it next to the vintage embroidered trim (that was still out from the previous blog-post photoshoot) I knew they were meant for each other.
As you can see in the photo above, the trim by itself is just ok...eh, kind of flat.
So I layered it on top of a wide white grosgrain ribbon. Much better. :)
A simple twill lining and divided pocket finish out the interior.
What are you sewing up this fall?
Thanks for stopping by my blog, and leaving such a sweet comment. I'm adding you to my sidebar. Love all your vintage awesomeness on your blog. Yes-your blog is perfect for my pink theme. If you want to link to my pink post, that would be great! Hey-I'm all about eating pink m & m's! A girl can't have too much chocolate!
ReplyDeleteOh, how pretty! And the setting is just lovely.
ReplyDeleteI love this bag! It looks very fall-ish, but it is still nice and colorful. You are right about the trim, the white ribbon made all the difference!
ReplyDeleteThat looks great!
ReplyDeleteI know you'll enjoy it!!

It's gorgeous-the trim looks so lovely over the grosgain ribbon!
ReplyDeleteSo fun! I'm sewing nothin'. I can't sew worth a hill of beans! I do want to start playing around with it more. Right now I'm learning to crochet so I'm figuring sewing will be next on the list!

What a gorgeous bag! I'm not sure that I am going to have the time to do much sewing this winter, but I would love to make some of the stunning Christmas craft ideas that I have come across recently...maybe next year.
