Vintage Fabric Flea Market Finds

I have lots of fun vintage fabrics to share with you since, apparently, I decided to take the entire month of May off. LOL ( I blame yardwork and gorgeous weather)  Anyway, Mom and I had a girls weekend in the middle of May and headed north for the Springfield Antique Extravaganza. I was able find a few new pieces to add to the yellow pottery collection that I recently started (I'll share those in the next post), and found a couple of cute 60's fabrics.

And a really pretty rayon? with bluebirds and wisteria.  It is so soft and flowy, I'd love to make some pajama or lounge pants with it.

We also hit an amazing antique mall in the Columbus area (thanks Stephanie!).  They had some killer furniture and industrial pieces that I would have loved to take home, but didn't bring the truck this time.   But I did find a fun feedsack that reminds me of the atomic sputnik or starburst shapes of the 1950's.

I also made it out to the Lawrenceburg Antique Market this past Sunday.  It was a really good day for fabrics! I found these cute fabrics all in shades of blue red and green.

A couple more feedsacks (the gray is from the earlier trip).

A pretty sunny yellow fabric from the 1940's and a tan with yellow daisies.

A lovely Japanese silk wisteria print from 1955. Don't you just love it when they print the date on a vintage piece!

And my two favorites of the day...a lovely pink sheer organdy lawn or batiste fabric from the 1930's and a cute printed dress fabric dating to the 1920-30's.

 The printed dress fabric is really special! The selvage is marked with "SOIESETTE" , pronounced(swah-zet) .

After some research I found out that this was the brand name of a highly mercerized cotton fabric put out by Ponemah Mills from the late 1920's until 1942. The fabric was noted for its quality, luster, and washability.
The dealer told me that several of these fabrics came from the same estate. They are in absolutely amazing condition, 3-5 yards each and not so much as even a dust mark on the fold or attic smell!

Feedsacks and Fabrics from the Flea Market

It has been a whirlwind of activity around here this summer. Besides having two fairly large yards to keep maintained, we have also had a baby shower at the new house, a "Welcome to the Neighborhood" get-together thrown by our sweet new neighbors, a big yard sale, a trip to the antique flea market, and hubby has completely disassembled and sold via Craigslist our large 225 gallon saltwater aquarium that was built into the wall of the basement family room of the old house. Whew!

Anyway...back to the main subject of this post...I found some wonderful feedsacks and vintage fabrics at the flea market in Lawrenceburg a few weeks ago. A couple of fun calicos from the 1970's.

A cute red and white gingham and a kind of boho floral, also form the 60-70's.

And these gorgeous feedsacks!

This one is my favorite; pink daisies, red polka dots, and an aqua background...could it get any better? :-)

I have several projects I want to share including a painted cabinet make-over, as soon as I get some pictures taken. I am also going to need some help figuring out what to do with this living room arrangement. I'm stumped and in need of some serious Candice Olson magic.

More Vintage Fabrics From Indiana

I've had lots of fun finding fabrics lately! A "girl's" trip with Mom to Central Indiana
as well as another weekend at the Lawrenceburg flea market turned up many cute prints.

Flea Market Fabric Finds

This past weekend Mom and I headed out to shop the Antique flea market in Lawerceburg, In. It stormed in the morning, so we weren't sure how many dealers would be there. It was definitely not as crowded as it would normally be, but a decent turnout given the downpour.

I was able to find several fabric goodies!

Two from the 1950's... This cool leaf print on gray, mid-weight cotton. And my favorite of the bunch, an awesome barkcloth with trees and leaves (or maybe they're figs?).I also bought a funky orange and yellow printed linen from the same dealer. I think this one dates to the 1960-70's.
And then just before leaving, I spotted two more cute fabrics at another booth. A 1970's poly/cotton red, white and blue mushroom floral.

And a tiny red strawberry print.It was a fun afternoon. Probably not near as fun as going to the Farm Chicks show, though. I've been reading all the blog posts about it and Wow! I have got to make plans for a road trip to the next one! :-)

Last Weekend's Flea Market Finds

Sorry for such a late post on these newest vintage fabric finds, but I was having a devil of a time with uploading pictures to blogger. I finally figured out the problem after a few days of searching help threads. :-)

Anyway...Last weekend Mom and I headed to Springfield, Ohio for the big Springfield Antique Show and FleaMarket Extravaganza. A big turn out of dealers and great weather for Friday and Saturday (Sunday was a bit rainy for them, I think). There were some great prices on furniture pieces, but sadly, my house is too full as it is, so I had to walk away from the lovely tables and cabinets.

I, of course, focused my attention on the fabrics. This cute 50's pink and grey leaf print was the first purchase of the day.Then, I spotted this awesome orange leaf feedsack. HAD to have this one!A couple of fun 35" width geo-floral prints from the 1950's...these always remind me of snowflakes.

I don't buy linens as often because I have so many already, but I couldn't pass up this pretty pink dogwood linen towel.A couple more 36" width fabrics; I think these both date to around the 1960-70's. One with with pink roses and the other shows off brown and tan leaves and apples. What a perfect fabric for fall projects!
And then this last piece was just too cute!Its a happy turtle border print and looks to be from the 1970's, but since one selvage is missing and there are so many retro prints in this same style, I can't say for sure.

Fabulous Flea Market Fabric Finds!

I went to one of my favorite flea markets over the weekend. Its an all antique and vintage market held in Indiana the first Sunday of every month. I ALWAYS find something fabulous, and this month was no exception.

First, I found 2 lovely floral hankies... (love the lily of the valley one!)

A few booths later, I found 3 monogrammed hankies. I'm pretty sure these are Madeira.
Next I found 2 fabrics from the 1940's. One is about 4 yards and the other 5 yards!
And just before they started packing up for the day, I spied these wonderful feedsacks. They're all in really nice condition, too! The Hawaiian surfer/hula dancer one is so cute!

I'm afraid most of the outdoor flea markets around here will be winding down this month. :(

Hmmm...maybe its time to plan a road trip.

Flea Market Finds

Well, the website is still down (Grrrrr...) so, I am not a happy camper.

My mom knows how anxious I get over this type of thing, so she suggested an improptu flea market outing. It was a beautiful day Sunday and we made it to just the tail end of the Lawrenceburg Antique market. Its a pretty large show, but we made the rounds in about 2 hours. Here's what I got: 3 pretty feedsacks,3 yards of vintage border print fabric,

Peach floral barkcloth drape panels (all 4 panels for 30.00!!!) ,

And my favorite, a children's counting book from 1942. Look at these adorable graphics!
